    Frequently Asked Questions

Who manufactures face masks in the UK?

Bristol Mask is the only Surgical mask Manufacturer in the South West. There are very few like us in the UK.

What are the 3 layers of a surgical mask?

Surgical Masks are made of plastic (polypropylene) with an inner and outer layer of Spunbond material and a middle layer of meltblown, a very special type of material used as a filter.

How do you define a surgical mask?

A Surgical mask is a disposable version used to limit and prevent the spread of germs, viruses, like Coronavirus, and bacteria coming from the mouth, and any respiratory diseases carried by liquid droplets and aerosol particles.

Which is the correct side of a surgical mask?

The front side of the mask is usually coloured and the white side is next to your skin. The nose bridge/ nose wire must be worn on the top of your nose and pinched to shape.

What material is used to make surgical masks?

Surgical masks are made of polypropylene, known as plastic (100% recyclable) and a nose bridge with or without metal.

When should I wear a face-covering during the COVID-19 pandemic?

As recommended by WHO and the UK Government, to prevent the disease, a face covering must be worn in all enclosed spaces where it is too difficult to maintain social distancing.

Do face masks help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

Surgical Face Masks help to prevent the wearer from catching viruses from coughs, sneezes and when speaking to others.

    Who invented surgical masks?

The first record we found was in 1897 when a French Surgeon, Paul Berger, used a piece of fabric to cover his face to prevent cross-infection during an operation.

    Face masks

This is my 2nd or 3rd order of your Face masks because up until this last order I have been highly satisfied, the masks are a proper size I.e not skimpy in depth so I feel I'm protected, fully. However I have given only 4 stars because the last order I received I had at least 15 masks out of the box that broke on the ear pieces before even putting them on. I will still purchase from you because I love that they are British made.

    Hello Debbie,

Thank you for your positive review of Disposable Surgical Face Masks Made in the UK x50. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and we are happy to know that our product meets your expectations.

However, 15 of the masks' ear loops are detached. During production, there can be defective manufacture. Usually, this is not the case for the entire batch.

Please provide us with a photo of the lot number at the back of the box and the faulty masks, so we can investigate to send you a replacement.

Please send your response to customerservice@bristolmask.uk

Thank you for using Bristol Mask. We want you to have the best experience with us and do look forward to your response!

    Regards,

    Problem sorted ! 5 stars

Further to my review approx. one month ago stating my disappointment with masks falling apart, Bristol Masks reached out to me to understand the issue and understandably requiring evidence.
This I was able to provide and I was promptly issued with a replacement box, the quality of which has been superb.
I will be placing orders in the future as I continue to support British business'.
Thank you to Bristol Masks customer support team, I am now more than happy to award 5 * for both products and service!
