    Frequently Asked Questions

Who manufactures face masks in the UK?

Bristol Mask is the only Surgical mask Manufacturer in the South West. There are very few like us in the UK.

What are the 3 layers of a surgical mask?

Surgical Masks are constructed with two layers of Spunbond fabric surrounding an inner layer of meltblown material; this filter effectively traps airborne particles.

How do you define a surgical mask?

A Surgical mask is a disposable version used to limit and prevent the spread of germs, viruses and bacteria coming from the mouth, and any respiratory diseases carried by liquid droplets and aerosol particles.

Which is the correct side of a surgical mask?

The mask is constructed such that the colored side is on the outside, and the white side touches your skin. To secure the mask, the nose bridge should be positioned on the top of the nose and adjusted for a snug fit.

What material is used to make surgical masks?

Surgical masks are made of polypropylene, known as plastic (100% recyclable) and a nose bridge with or without metal.

When should I wear a face-covering during the COVID-19 pandemic?

As recommended by WHO and the UK Government, to prevent the disease, a face covering must be worn in all enclosed spaces where it is too difficult to maintain social distancing.

Do face masks help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

Surgical Face Masks provide protection from potential viral transmission through contact with coughing, sneezing and verbal communication.

    Who invented surgical masks?

The first record we found was in 1897 when a French Surgeon, Paul Berger, used a piece of fabric to cover his face to prevent cross-infection during an operation.

    Excellent face masks

My husband is shielding so we both mask-wear regularly. He uses FFP3 masks for additional protection but I wear a standard surgical mask. I love the black Bristol Face Masks. I wear glasses and these masks, (if you pinch the metal nose strip correctly) are brilliant at reducing or eliminating fogging. The masks are comfortable to wear and I think the black colour looks a bit less clinical, especially during the winter months when most of us are wearing darker outdoor clothes. I will certainly be buying more from Bristol Masks.

    HI J,

Thank you for leaving a 5-Stars review. We continuously strive to serve you better.

We are glad that we met your needs.

Looking forward to serving you in the future!
